- Winter sports are a big draw in the area, with the Adirondacks and Lake Placid's Olympic facilities (the town hosted the 1932 and 1980 Winter Games) affording the opportunity to partake in skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, sledding, and ice fishing. The resort has a seasonal ice skating rink, as well. There is plenty to do in the warmer months, too, such as sunbathing on the resort's private beach, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boating, tennis, and hiking and biking in the nearby mountains. Golfers can play a round on three local courses. At the resort, families can play in the game room, go bowling, watch a movie at the 54-seat cinema, and enjoy the nightly bonfire.
