Roots Blower
Roots blower is used for pumping dry air or
gasses that aren't aggressive, toxic or explosive. The
Roots blowers aren't designed for an additional media. The
gas must be free from vapours which will condense within the
temperature and pressure conditions within the Roots
blower. The Roots blower is meant for installation in
an environment that's not potentially explosive.
What are roots blowers?
A Roots blower may be a valve-less displacement compressor without internal compression. When the compression chamber comes into contact with the outlet port, compressed gas flows back to the housing from the pressure side. Subsequently, further compression takes place when the degree of the compression chamber further decreases with continued rotation. Accordingly, compression takes place against full counter-pressure, which ends up in low efficiency and a high background level. Two identical, usually symmetrical, counter rotating rotors add a housing, synchronized by means of a collection of drugs wheels. Blowers are usually air-cooled and oil-free. Their low efficiency limits these blowers to very depression applications and compression in an exceedingly single stage, whether or not two- and three-stage versions are available.
