Lectins, as a class of non-enzyme and non-antibody sugar-binding proteins, have the property of specifically binding sugars. Agglutination experiments based on the interaction of lectins with glycosyl compounds on the surface of bacteria have been successfully applied to identify bacterial species and study the expression of glycosyl compounds on the surface of bacteria. Gold nano is a kind of nano material with good biocompatibility. The surface of nano-gold is easily functionalized by key probe molecules such as lectins, and can be used in many fields such as: biosensing, targeted drugs and gene delivery, photothermal therapy, and biomaterial imaging. The lectin microarray constructed using lectin combined with gold nano-particles as a label consumes less sample compared with ordinary chips, providing a new screening high-throughput method.
