It started in 1964 when Mahlon Martin started hauling Ag products with a small truck.Now 30 years later we have grown to a multi company enterprise consisting of, 2 landscape supply retail centers, wholesale mulch and compost division and a trucking division.The wholesale and trucking companies operate on 21 acres located just outside Ephrata PA.Glenn Martin, Mahlon’s son now at the helm, his 2 sons, Kenton and Jason along with a group on 14 dedicated employees keep the different companies running smoothly.
By 1983 Mahlon had expanded to a fleet of 4 semi trucks, hauling a number of different products.Then in 1985 along with his son Glenn started processing wood mulch and wholesaling it to local garden centers.In 1995 formed Quality Mulch Products and with the purchase of a new wood grinder and Glenn’s son Kenton coming on board they started doing custom grinding for other people and expanded the wholesale to include other products such as Mushroom Compost, colored mulch, playground mulch and top soil. We now serve an ever expanding clientele base in PA, MD, VA, DE, NJ, NY and CT.
Then in 2008 after being approached by a local garden center that was selling out, bought the name Crystal Lake Mulch and started a retail landscape supply center along Rt 272 in Denver and in the fall of 2008 bought the second landscape center in Brickerville, Mountain View Mulch. Since then we have continually added a few more products every year.In 2010 due to requests from customers, Kenton who heads the retail division put together a crew of 4 employees and started offering waterscape and hardscape installation.Since then the retail has continued to grow, now selling over 10,000cubic yards of wood mulch annually.
Spring Side Trucking, the transportation part consists of a fleet of 8 semi trucks, hauling flatbed, van, Bulk Ag commodities and oversized equipment.
