Your pet is in good hands at CRVS. Once known as Emergency Veterinary Services, we have been serving Southwest Washington and Portland, Oregon for over 30 years. We are now Columbia River Veterinary Specialists. What this means is we’ve taken the very best in 24/7 emergency care and added specialty services - right here, in Vancouver. Our skilled and compassionate team of nurses and doctors work to ensure that each patient receives the best possible care and comfort round-the-clock. We are a fully equipped and staffed 24-hour facility providing state-of-the-art intensive care medicine. Our Veterinary Specialists are experts in Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery and Cardiology. We act as consultants, supporting the practice of your regular veterinarian. If your pet is having a medical emergency, you do not need an appointment. We are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and are fully staffed to receive, diagnose and treat medical emergencies. We are committed to treating you as a close family friend. We will provide your pet with the same level of care and compassion we would want for our own pets. Gentle handling and patient comfort are our top priorities; rest assured that your pet will be treated with kindness while under our care. When your pet is discharged, we provide you and your family veterinarian with copies of all medical records and pertinent information needed to continue successful care. Our hospital is designed to be an extension of the services provided by your primary care veterinarian. All routine care of your pet will referred to your family veterinarian. Most often our clients are referred to us by their family veterinarian. While this recommendation is not necessary to make an appointment to see one of our Specialists, it is customary. We work with your family veterinarian and you, the pet owner, to develop a comprehensive treatment plan for your pet. This assures the best continuity of care and success. Your family veterinarian will recommend a specialist that they feel can best help your pet. A specialist is a veterinarian who has pursued additional training in a particular discipline, normally by completing a one-year internship, followed by a two-three year residency. In addition, they must publish original research and pass rigorous board examinations to earn the title Diplomate, much like doctors do in human medicine. In general, veterinary specialists only provide medical care in their area of expertise and do not offer routine wellness care. It is for this reason that the specialist and your family veterinarian work together as health care partners. Columbia River VetERinary Specialists. We Care.
