T-shirts
T-shirts are garments worn on the top of the torso. They typically have a crew or V-neck, short sleeves and can be made of light, medium or heavy fabric weight. T-shirts can be produced by many methods, but the most common is screen printing.
Another way to make a t-shirt is using vinyl applique. In this method a plotter cuts out a design in any number of colors from separate sheets of vinyl that are coated with adhesive. The shirt and the vinyl are then run through a heat press where high temperatures fuse the vinyl to the t-shirt.
The problem with this is that the color doesn’t actually become part of the t-shirt. The ink also tends to have a plastic-like feel. However, if the t-shirt is washed often enough it can hold up well. Plus, it’s inexpensive and fast. This makes it ideal for a short print run or one-offs such as a family get-together.
