Water Recreation
Lakes are one of Highlands County’s most attractive natural features. The greater Lake Placid area includes 29 named lakes with over 11,000 acres of surface water, as well as Lake Istokpoga, Florida’s fifth largest lake at 27,692 acres. There is an incredible diversity of lakes in the area that ranges from large deep, clear lakes such as Placid and June-in-Winter to shallower, highly productive lakes such as Apthorpe, Crews and Carrie that support excellent fish populations.
Our Local Rates
All rates include sewer, water, and electricity (up to 20 kw. a day) 7.5% tax not included in pricing (11.5% for park homes). Sorry, no tents, pop-ups, bus conversions, converted utility trailers, or truck campers are permitted. Campers with pets are permitted in pet circles only and must walk dogs in pet circles. Two dogs, 20 lbs. or less, are allowed. Any vacation home rentals require a one-time cleaning fee of $65.
